Rain Postpones Reading Race for Two Weeks
New Race Date Is September 29/October 1
READING, Pa., Sept. 17, 2006 -- An unrelenting rain Thursday, Friday and Saturday kept race cars off Maple Grove Raceway's track and turned parking lots into quagmire, forcing NHRA officials to reschedule the Toyo Tires Nationals for Sept. 29-30/Oct. 1.
"NHRA made the right call and at the right time on Saturday," said Cory McClenathan, driver of the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Boost Top Fuel dragster. "There was no place for fans to park because everything was muddy. My thanks go to the track employee who used his tractor to pull my travel trailer out of the mud.
"Sunday was Steve LaValle's birthday and we wanted to give him a win as a gift," added McClenathan. "We'll try to give him one on Sunday at Dallas."
The team is in action at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, near Dallas, Friday through Sunday.
