Chicago - Clay Millican of Team 104+ Octane Boost/Lehman Racing will return to Reading, Pa., on October 3-5 for the continuation of the NHRA Nationals, which was postponed on the weekend of September 12-14 due to rain.
The Top Fuel field was able to make one qualifying run on September 12, and Millican is currently in the 10th position with an elapsed time of 4.651 at 314.90 mph. He will have two opportunities to better his qualifying position before Sunday's eliminations.
"Come rain, sleet, or snow, let's get this race finished!" said Millican. "I just want to continue to run well and try to get our first NHRA win. That is my number one goal."
In his last race, the O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals in Memphis, Millican qualified in sixth position in front of his hometown crowd, and defeated Paul Romine in the first round of eliminations. He lost in the quarterfinals to eventual winner Tony Schumacher.
Millican is currently in 15th place in the NHRA Top Fuel points standings, an impressive feat considering that he has raced in only eight of the 19 NHRA races that have taken place this year. He is scheduled to race in 12 of the 23 NHRA events this season, and is viewed as an up-and-coming star in the league. He has qualified for eliminations in all of the NHRA races in which he has competed this year, and was the number two qualifier in three of those races. He hopes to build on this success in Reading.
The NHRA Nationals Top Fuel schedule is as follows:
Saturday, October 4:
Top Fuel Qualifying Session - 12:00 p.m.
Top Fuel Qualifying Session - 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 5:
Final Eliminations - 11:00 a.m.
