FULLER FLIES TO NO. 4 SPOT FOR N C MACHINERY FRIDAY AT SEATTLE
KENT, Wash. (July 18, 2008) -- Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned N C Machinery dragster to the No. 4 qualifying position Friday evening at Pacific Raceways. The seven-time Top Fuel winner used an elapsed time of 3.841-seconds on Friday evening at the Seattle NHRA race.
Fuller, who ranks fifth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings following 13 of 24 races, opened qualifying by making his first three-second 1,000-foot pass. The Las Vegas racer blasted his N C Machinery/Caterpillar dragster to a run of 3.950 seconds at 293.47 mph placing Fuller 10th in the 16-car order. On Friday's second attempt, Fuller used Rob Flynn horsepower to move into the top half of the field. The popular racer powered the Caterpillar rail to a run of 3.841 at 313.73 to finish in the provisional No. 4 qualifying position.
"We had to change fuel pumps today and that seemed to fix things," Fuller said. "The car dropped a cylinder at the step on the first run again. We changed fuel pumps and made a good run. To be honest, it was really conservative and we left a lot on the table. We feel that we can improve if it's cloudy tomorrow."
