MADISON IL - SUMMIT FastNews - According to the schedule, Super Gas, Super Comp, and Stock should have run round 3 of eliminations starting at 1 PM. According to yesterday's weather forecasts, there was only a 30 percent chance of scattered showers. Wrong on both counts. Around 11 AM rain started falling on Gateway International Raceway, heavy rain at times, light at others, but steady rain. It's still raining as I write this at 2:00 PM. The weather radar looks promising at first glance, a large clear area west of here, but when you watch the looped replay you can see the rain cells forming right at the Mississippi River and dissipating a few miles east of here - it's as if a rain magnet was implanted in the raceway.
We are still hoping to get Professional eliminations started at 4 PM, as scheduled, but there's a strong likelihood we'll continue to see rain throughout the day. We will post periodic updates on Drag Race Central to let you know how it's going, especially if it looks like racing is imminent.
