October 11- October 12, 2002
Burt Frisselle spent this past weekend at the final race of thirteen rounds in the Formula Dodge National Championship. The event was held in Lime Rock Park as a support race for the Burnham Boilers 200. Due to rain that persisted throughout the weekend, every session was driven in the wet. The track proved to be especially slippery in the wet conditions, making the weekend a particularly challenging one for all of the drivers.
Qualifying Session
Position Qualified: 7th
Fastest Lap Time: 1:14.974
Speed: MPH 73.46
Qualifying Notes: Qualifying was held just one hour before the race itself. Given the extreme conditions, Frisselle chose to be slightly conservative. He executed competitive lap times while remaining within the limits of the slick track. Frisselle felt that his performance in qualifying was solid and he noted that patience and consistency were going to be key in the race.
Race Results
Position Started: 7th
Position Finished: 11th
Race Notes: Frisselle was frustrated by the results of the race. He was confident that he had the speed to finish in the top five and could make a push for a podium finish. He was forced to take evasive action, leaving the race surface on two occasions in order to avoid collisions with his competitors. This smart, defensive driving cost Frisselle several positions as well as a great deal of time. Frisselle stated, "Today's race was frustrating and disappointing, as I am confident that I had the speed and skill to take a podium finish. However, I did enjoy racing in the wet conditions, as they certainly made for an exciting weekend!"
