Houston, TX. -- Tommy Archer, driving the number 36 Control Concepts Dodge Viper, will start from the fourth position for this afternoon's final round of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup, part of the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston weekend.
Inclement weather Friday and Saturday morning scrubbed qualifying, leading SCCA officials to line the grid up based on series points.
"Lining up by points won't hurt us," said Tommy Archer, driver of the number 36 Control Concepts Dodge Viper, "because fourth is not a bad place to start. We used the qualifying session for practice, and continued to make the car better. We found some things, and we've now got a car that is much more comfortable, and certainly capable of going to the front. Considering this is our first time here, I think that speaks very highly for the Control Concepts crew."
"It's a shame we didn't have the chance to put the Control Concepts Dodge Viper on pole," said Joe Tranchida, owner of Cinjo Racing, "because we've got about 75 people from Control Concepts here today. But we've continued to work on the car and it should be great in the race."
The Trans-Am race from Houston will be televised on the Speedvision Network, starting at 2:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, October 13.
