Schild Captures Pole For Operation Interdependence 100
Despite a heat index rating of 103 degrees, Chris Schild of Leander TX. piloted his Double Oak Construction/Splash Water Systems/JT Schild Enterprises Monte Carlo to the pole at Thunder Hill Raceway with a fast time of 15:567 for the Operation Interdependence 100.
"The track is still a little greasy. We've been fighting one problem after another all day," said Schild. "Looks like it came together and now we will try and put in another good run." Texas Super Racing Series rules called for all the cars to be impounded after qualifying. Schild added, "That may actually help him because he won't be able to dial it out."
Schild and his crew chief, John Schild, debated before qualifying about how much the track would tighten up for the race. "We settled on a pretty neutral set up so I think we will be OK for the main event," stated Schild. "With only one dice being used for the inversion tonight we have a chance to start head's up. When we use two dice it kind of takes away from winning the pole because you lose the chance to actually sit on the pole."
This was Schild's second career pole with the Texas Super Racing Series. Schild's first pole was May 21st when the series last visited Thunder Hill Raceway. Schild started this race sixth place in the series point race. On his last visit to Thunder Hill, Schild finished the night in second place.
