RUHLMAN EDGED BY JAGUARS, BUT REMAINS IN TOP FIVE AFTER SECOND SESSION AT LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX
Driver Randy Ruhlman ran a 1:23.611 in the second session at the Long Beach Grand Prix, improving his time over the first session by almost a second. Ruhlman was third in the first session, but was caught by the team Jaguar cars and finished the session in fifth overall. The third, fourth and fifth place cars are separated by less than 0.05 seconds.
Ruhlman commented after the session, "I feel good about that session, I thought I had Klaus {Graf} and Drissi when the three of us ran some laps together. We have a fast Corvette, but the Jags are quick."
"It was still a lot of fun, it felt good, and the car felt better. Overall the session went great. Traffic was a bit worse out there this session, and we also had a small problem with a wheel and lost a couple of laps. The guys did a good job getting us back out quickly, and we know that it isn't going to be a problem for qualifying."
"I think we are in good shape for tomorrow morning qualifying. They have broken us into two groups for qualifying, so I don't think that the traffic won't play into the times. We are going to change a few things, but overall we have a good package for the race and we are looking forward to it"
