Portland: GTA race notes

RUDY REVAK WINS GTA CLASS IN PORTLAND TRANS-AM RACE

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 18, 2005) -- Rudy Revak won the GT America Class race, part of the Rose City 100 Trans-Am Series race at Portland International Raceway. Revak (No. 99 Symmetry Nutritional Ford Taurus) came out atop a battle with Tim Barber to win the class.

Barber (No. 98 Riverside Motorsports Park Ford Taurus) was second, ahead of Dr. Art Muncheryan (No. 90 Racer's Dentist Pontiac Grand Prix), Roy Isley (No. 46 Canadian Western Aggregate Chevrolet Monte Carlo), and Stephen Schmalz (No. 54 Performance Fabrication Chevrolet Monte Carlo).

"Tim Barber is a great driver; he did a great job," said Revak. "He and I have had a lot of great battles over the years in the GTA Class. It was a clean race. I was fortunate at the end of the race that his car went away before mine did.

"I have to thank my entire crew," added Revak. "They did a great job this weekend. They made a lot of changes here and there. We had a great lap to win the pole in qualifying and that was all due to my crew. My crew chief Sean (McLean) and my crew chief in memory Rob Smeltzer; He was in that car with me today.

"We love being with this Trans-Am group," concluded Revak. "They're just terrific and they've just been great to us."
