WISE, FLOCK WILL LEAD MIDGETS TO PIKES PEAK JULY 3
DARLAND TAKES LIMA & "BUCKEYE" TITLE; KUHN GETS #1
Californians Josh Wise of Riverside and Robby Flock of Temecula will lead their respective USAC Midget racing series to the July 3 "Rocky Mountain Classic" at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colo.
Wise leads the USAC National Midget Car Series standings by a healthy 81 points over Ron Gregory, with Brad Kuhn third in the current rankings.
Kuhn, of Avon, Ind., earned his initial National feature win Friday night in the "Buckeye Nationals" opener at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio. Kuhn led the first 22 laps and the final two in his Westin Homes/Magnum Axle Company Stealth/Stanton Mopar, regaining the lead from Jay Drake after Drake's late-race spin. Dave Darland, Jerry Coons, Jr., Johnny Rodriguez and Michael Pickens.
Darland returned to lead all 30 laps of Saturday night's race at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio and claimed the overall "Buckeye Nationals" Midget crown in the process. Darland piloted the U.S. Technologies/Rusty Kunz Shores/Esslinger and was followed by Coons, Wise, Kuhn and Jon Stanbrough.
