CAROLINA FOCUS SEASON KICKS OFF SATURDAY AT FRANKLIN COUNTY
INDIANAPOLIS -- With a new look schedule and a wide-open field ready to challenge for the championship, the USAC Carolina Ford Focus Midget Car Series kicks its 2007 season off Saturday at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Va.
The race is the first of two at Franklin County's 3/8-mile track, and the first of three new venues on the schedule. It also marks one of two Virginia tracks to host the series in 2007, with Shenandoah Speedway being the other.
The 2007 season will also see a different roster, as the only champion in the series' three-year history, Chase Scott, has made the decision to move to the USAC National Midget Car Series. The door opens for veterans Mike Ward and Rick Fedrizzi to challenge for the title, while rookie teenager and recent All-American Driver Challenge winner Tanner Swanson hopes to start the season off with a bang.
Also enhancing the field will be several Northeast regulars, veterans and rookies alike, as teams and drivers shake down their cars in preparation for the Northeast series' season debut April 28 at Waterford (Conn.) Speedbowl.
