USAC California Ford Focus South Midget Car Series point leader Chris Rahe of Placentia, Calif. has seven feature victories so far this season but hopes to add Irwindale Speedway to his list this Saturday night as the series returns there for the first time since the season opener. A 25-lap feature is scheduled on Irwindale's third-mile oval.
Rahe was ninth in the March 27 race as California North Focus Champion Josh Lakatos took the win. Since then, Rahe has only finished out of the "top-three" in California Focus competition (North and South) four times. He's added six seconds and five thirds to his seven wins.
His 111-point lead over runner-up Bradley Galedrige is not in jeopardy at Irwindale, but with five races remaining on the South calendar, Galedrige hopes to close in the standings.
Galedrige, who won the prestigious Belleville Midget National Focus race in Kansas in July, owns five Focus wins this year and all five have come at different tracks. At Irwindale in March he failed to finish, recording his worst finish of the season, a 23rd.
