BACON ENDS MORGAN'S STREAK; SATURDAY'S OKLAHOMA FOCUS RACE CANCELLED
Leon Bacon of Broken Arrow, Okla. showed Saturday the new Oklahoma Ford Focus Midget Car Series, presented by United Ford, isn't going to be a one-man show.
Bacon halted point leader Dustin Morgan's two-race winning streak by posting a victory at the Tulsa (Okla.) Speedway. Bacon led all but the first lap of the 25-lap feature, winning in the No. 2 TelStar Communications -- Action Sign CMC/Ford Focus. It was his first career USAC feature victory. Polesitter Ryan Cole led the opening lap.
Morgan, of Collinsville, Okla. finished third in the event but continues to lead the series point standings over Jasiel Randolph, who finished second in the 25-lapper. Only 20 points separate the top four in the new standings.
This Saturday's event, which was rescheduled from April 17, has been cancelled. The next scheduled event comes May 28 at the 3/8-mile dirt oval.
