FF: Perris II: Race notes

Hansen scores Ford Focus win at Perris.

Garrett Hansen of Redondo Beach, Calif. notched his second consecutive USAC Ford Focus Midget Car feature victory Saturday night, leading the final 11 laps at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway to win the 20-lap race. The victory bolstered his fifth-place point ranking in the new USAC series.

Hansen caught J.J. Ercse on the 10th lap and led the rest of the way to beat Jon Wilcox, Steve Davis, Todd Hunsaker and Ercse to the checkered flag.

Chris Rahe posted the fastest qualifying time and won a heat race but finished 10th in the 20-lap feature. Ercse won the other heat race.

Hunsaker's finish left him with a 52-point lead over Phil Goodwine (ninth at Perris) going into an August 10 race at Perris.
