Shock Absorber Repair Costs 15 minutes, Jonsson Readies for Run into the Dark
10:36PM (Le Mans)/ 4:36 PM (ET) - Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning Racing's fuel strategy for the 24 Hours of Le Mans was coming into focus until deep into the fifth hour. After double-stinting Jorg Bergmeister, who qualified and started the race in the No. 90 Krohn/ Petersen Motorsports/ White Lightning/ Michelin Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, over the last two hours, the German driver reported a damaged right front shock. Following a routine stop for four Michelin Tires and fuel, the Dennis Chizma-led crew immediately began the repair with the four allowable men in pit lane.
Bergmeister brought in the No. 90 at 10:08 PM local time and the Petersen/ White Lightning crew completed the fifth pit stop at 10:23 PM (local)/ 4:08 PM (ET) on (class) Lap 73. They lost two laps in the 15 minute repair.
Nic Jonsson is back behind the wheel in sixth spot after Bergmeister entered the pits in third. Jonsson will be the first of the Petersen/ White Lightning drivers to race into the darkness.
The Petersen/ White Lightning Porsche has covered 71 laps in the first five and a half hours of the race. They are currently 6th in class and 32nd overall. They are three laps behind the GT2 class leader.
