World of Outlaws to Return to Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, IL (January 20) - After a long absence from the famous one-mile oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, the World of Outlaws is scheduled to make its long-awaited return June 8th. "This will complete an excellent motorsports package for the Illinois State Fairgrounds," said promoter Bob Sargent. "We have the World of Outlaws sprints, AMA motorcycles, USAC Silver Crown, ARCA stock cars, dirt late models and modifieds running throughout the season." The World of Outlaws raced at Illinois State Fair Speedway five times between 1980 and 1982, with Steve Kinser winning three "A" Features and Danny Smith winning two. The Sunday event will have the World of Outlaws' fire- breathing, mud-slinging sprint cars hitting the legendary one- mile oval at 9 a.m. for hot laps. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and the heat races at 1 p.m. For ticket information, call Track Enterprises, Inc., at (217) 764-3770. WoO
