Kaeding Races with Heavy Heart at Lake Ozark
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, MO (May 12) -- Tim Kaeding and Woodward Racing competed in Saturday's World of Outlaws event at Lake Ozark Speedway with heavy hearts. They learned that regular driver Brooke Tatnell's father, George, passed away that afternoon.
Trying his best to carry on, Kaeding drove the #2 Volcano Joe's Coffee Schnee into 20th place in the 35-lap "A" Feature.
"We were all hurting with Brooke's dad passing away," Kaeding said. "It was rough on everybody. We found out at about 3 o'clock, so we just had to make it through the night. I lost my grandma a couple of months ago, so it brought back memories of that. It was a long night for everybody. But we did the best we could; that's all we could do."
Kaeding won an emotional main event at Thunderbowl Raceway several days after his grandmother's passing in February while driving for Steve Kinser Racing.
The World of Outlaws observed a moment of silence to honor George Tatnell before Saturday's races. Brooke, who returned to Australia recently to visit his father, credited the Australian sprint car legend with all of his racing knowledge.
"The whole Larry Woodward Racing team supports Brooke and his family," Crew Chief Troy Renfro said. "Brooke is like a brother to me, and this is a very hard time for him. Not too many people realize how close Brooke was to his father. His father was his hero."
Erupt with premium Kona roast Volcano Joe's Coffee. Larry Woodward's fine roasted Arabica coffee is 100% Hawaiian made. It's "the racers' choice."
