Beijing: Today's two practice sessions for the A1GP Beijing, China have been cancelled to allow organisers to address issues with the brand new street circuit. While the track, designed especially for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport Series received its FIA Grade 2 approval this morning as planned, organisers have opted to delay on-track activity until their concerns over one section of the track have been addressed.
Twenty two A1GP cars left the pit lane at 15.15 this afternoon for the delayed start of the first official practice session. After two cars had experienced minor incidents at turn eight, the hairpin bend at the end of the straight, which caused the session to be red flagged, it was decided to cancel all further track action for the day.
A1GP organisers have decided to postpone on-track activity while they undertake further investigations on turn eight and are currently working to resolve the situation.
