Contingency award announced

ZF Sachs establishes Contingency Award in American Le Mans Series

BRASELTON, Ga. (June 5, 2003) -- ZF Sachs, part of one of the world's largest original equipment automotive supplier ZF Group, has established a contingency award program in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series for the 2003 season, ZF Sachs and ALMS officials have announced.

In each of the nine American Le Mans Series races for 2003, ZF Sachs will present awards to the top three finishing cars in the GT class. The awards will be credits of $1,000 (first place), $500 (second place) and $250 (third place) toward the purchase of Sachs products. The awards are contingent upon the display of Sachs decals on both sides of the race car as well as the usage of Sachs products in the race.

Sachs racing dampers and multi-plate racing clutches are part of the original equipment offered on factory built race cars, such as Porsche 911 GT3 RS. In addition to Porsches, ZF Sachs supplies racing dampers and clutches to teams competing with Ferrari, BMW, Saleen, and three time Le Mans winner Audi R8 in various classes of the American Le Mans Series.

Sachs Racing products are developed by Sachs Race Engineering, using state-of- the-art materials, and know how gained through technology partnerships with Formula 1 teams, and manufactured at the high tech labs in Schweinfurt, Germany.

The American Le Mans Series is a series of North American sports car races based on the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's most famous endurance race. American Le Mans Series races feature four classes of race cars competing for class wins and the overall win, with the fields including many of the same drivers and cars that compete at Le Mans. The series holds events at many of North America's premier permanent road racing facilities as well as at temporary circuits in key major markets. The series motto is "For the Fans" and all events feature driver autograph sessions and open paddocks. All events are on television in the United States.
