Notes about TRACY W. KROHN, Krohn Racing owner and driver of the No. 61 Krohn/Risi Ferrari 430GT:
Both Tracy Krohn and his wife, Susan Krohn, are racing this weekend at Sebring International Raceway. Tracy is entered in the No. 61 Krohn-Risi Ferrari 430GT, along with teammates Nic Jonsson and Colin Braun, in the GT2 class for the 55th Annual 12 Hours of Sebring. Susan is entered in the No.21 Panoz GT, scheduled to race today, Friday, April 16th. The only female in the race, Susan qualified 15th in her class, of a total of 21 expected cars in the race.
Susan is responsible for Tracy's renewed interest in racing in recent years when she gave him a Panoz Driving School class for his birthday five years ago. Tracy had previously enjoyed a brief stint racing an MGB in SCCA while he was in college at Louisiana State University thirty years ago.
Notes about COLIN BRAUN, driver of the No. 61 Krohn/Risi Ferrari 430GT
Colin Braun, of Ovalo, Texas, has been living in Florida since December, along with his parents and younger brother, to be close to his many racing obligations at Daytona, Sebring and Homestead. However, another reason he has made Florida his temporary home is because he is taking flying lessons in Sarasota, Florida. The 18-year-old Colin, who was home schooled, is vying for his "Single Engine Private Pilot License".
As of Sebring race week, Colin has accumulated 37 hours towards his license. He only has two more flight obligations to fulfill the requirements for the license: one additional night flight and one additional solo flight of over 50 miles. On one of his previous solo flights in January, he flew in and landed at the Sebring Airport during the ALMS Test Session.
Notes about NIC JONSSON, driver of the No. 61 Krohn/Risi Ferrari 430GT
Nic competed in last year's 12 Hours of Sebring race with former Krohn Racing Daytona Prototype teammate Jorg Bergmeister and Jorg's brother Tim. They drove the No. 31 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to a seventh place finish in the GT2 class.
In 2005, Nic drove with Tim Sugden in the No 79 Porsche 996 GT3 RSR to a second place finish in the GT2 class, finishing 11th overall.
In 2004, Jonsson drove a Porsche 911 GT3 RS with teammates Romeo Kapudija and Dorsey Porter, Jr. They finished 11th in the GT class and 21st overall.
Jonsson was on the podium in the 51st Annual 12 Hours of Sebring in 2003 when he drove a Porsche 911 GT3 RS with Craig Stanton and Johnny Mowlem to a second place finish in GT-2, 11th overall. This year Mowlen drives in the sister No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GT with Mika Sala and Jaime Melo, who qualified on the GT2 class pole yesterday.
