Utah: Driver comments on SLC area

PICTURE PERFECT IN UTAH

Impressions of Miller Motorsports Park have been unanimously positive in relation to both the facility and track. In addition, several drivers have opinions about the physical location of the upcoming Utah Grand Prix near Salt Lake City. Both climate and setting also play a part in their high expectations for this weekend's activities and contribute to their performance on the track itself.

"The climate is different; we spend a lot of time on the East coast, which is humid. I really like the climate in Salt Lake - it's dry. It's just a blast to drive in that place."

"I didn't get a lot of chance to see anything outside the city last year, but the feedback I got from the guys that spent a lot of time there said it was a fantastic place to visit. I'm hoping this year I can go a lot earlier and enjoy what the tourists get to see, and then do my racing afterward. I'm looking forward to that."

"Miller Motorsports Park is out in a very desolate area where you have no marks to go by, and you really have to know the rhythm of the track. When you lose your light, it's very difficult to see at night and you have to go by the rhythm that you built during the days that you've worked up to in order to know exactly where your braking and your turning points are."

"I really like the track, it's a little dusty if you go off the road because the grass hasn't had a chance to grow there. It's very dry in Salt Lake City, but in terms of the layout, it's almost perfect for racing."

The next round of the American Le Mans Series is the Utah Grand Prix, set for 5:05 p.m. MT on Saturday, May 19 from Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City. It will air live on XM Satellite Radio's Sports Nation channel. CBS Sports will air the race at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 20. MotorsTV in Europe, SPEED Latin America and 7TV in Russia also will provide international coverage. American Le Mans Radio and IMSA's Live Timing and Scoring will be available at americanlemans.com.
