Guy Smith, from Driffield, slipped one place to fourth in the American Le Mans Series after recording sixth place at Salt Lake City
The Yorkshireman's American co-driver Chris Dyson began the race from the back of the 30-car field but was up to fifth in the LM P2 class -- eighth overall -- after 30mins of racing around the revised 3.06-mile, 15-corner Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
Dyson handed over the Thetford/Norcold Dyson Racing Porsche Spyder to Smith after 97mins with Guy setting a fast pace and clocking his fastest race lap two minutes from the finish in the 2hr 45min race.
The Briton took the chequered flag in sixth one-lap behind the winning Porsche of Romain Dumas/Timo Bernhard in the 85 degree heat.
Smith reflected: "Rules dictate you must start the race on the tyres you qualified on. I collected a slow puncture in qualifying so we had to change the tyre so it was a back of the grid start for Chris.
"But he had worked his way through the field very well and we drove a good race to collect more championship points. Unfortunately the tyre pressures weren't quite right which caused me to suffer from a lack of grip until the temperature came up and gave me the grip I needed."
