NOTES OF INTEREST
The Cadillac Grand Prix of Washington, D.C., will mark the first major
automobile racing weekend ever held in the United States capital city. A
temporary racing circuit of 1.9 miles in length has been constructed in the
massive parking lots of RFK Stadium, former home of both the Washington
Redskins (NFL) and Washington Senators (Major League Baseball), and current
home of the D.C. United professional soccer team. The circuit was designed
by Lance Shafer, who has also designed temporary racing circuits in Toronto,
Houston and Vancouver. The festival weekend will also include a major
concert as well as a celebrity race featuring stars of television, movies
and music.
