Rider Quotes from Houston
Jesseman:
"I got off to a pretty good start with Brock and Kelly Smith. Those two
went out there a bit, I am not sure what they were doing. I should have
tried to make things happen instead I just tried to wait a little bit.
Someone clipped me from behind and I fell. After I recouped from that I
got back up and rode pretty well. I came back to 4th. I learned from my
mistakes. I was trying to be a little too patient in the beginning I
think. (For next week) I will be doing the same things I have been
doing.
Metcalf:
"This is my first podium in America. I am happy to finally get up
here and prove to myself that I can run with these guys. I was injured a
little at the start of the series. I hadn't raced since May last year.
I was a little nervous coming into the season. I am getting there.
Tonight I tried to ride as hard as I could, as always."
Tedesco:
"The season hadn't gone that good so far. I had an injury earlier
in the year. I had a concussion at Atlanta. At Daytona I hurt my ribs.
I am just glad to be back on the bike and get on the podium. Early in
the season I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to win the
championship and things didn't turn out so well. I just want to get a win
before the end of this season and carry that into the outdoors."
Sellards:
"This year at the Yamaha test track Ivan had faster lap times so I
was feeling a little pressure. It feels great to win a race but at the
same time I am kind of bummed out because when things start going your
way and that falls a way, and all you have to do is win (individual)
races, the championship is pretty much gone and that is what I have been
working for. This track tonight was a great track. I really liked it.
It was one of the funnest supercross track I have ever ridden. The dirt
is good, the track layout was really good. It seems like they had a
track that was a little bit challenging to your bike which is where the
YZ250F pays off."
Fonseca:
"I got off to a pretty good start. Travis Preston fell right in
front of me. It seems like I was not really off the pace. Chad and
Ricky are riding really good. These guys are a little bit further ahead
than everyone else. This finish helps a lot. My bike is working
great."
Carmichael:
"I fell in the first turn so it made the night interesting. Coming
from behind makes it tough. I just kept trying 100% every lap and tried
to pass every bike. I started to cut away at Chad's lead but I wasn't
fast enough. I caught him but didn't pass. I rode my butt off here.
When you are out there to win titles every lap counts. I am pissed. The
championship is still good. I would like to win the rest of the races.
I just need to get good starts and stay out of trouble."
Reed:
"For me it was a good race. I started pretty much the same as
Ricky did but I didn't go down. I think I am lucky I am a little taller
than he is. Everyone was bumping and all of a sudden he was on the
ground. There were definitely a lot of people in the main event I am not
used to racing with. I tried to get in the lead as soon as possible. I
was watching Ricky. I knew where he was. I was just trying to get the
whoops better. One time one of the lapped riders pushed me over there.
I think it was meant to happen because I finally found a good line. I
liked this track a lot. I was excited to be here and hoped to get
another win. It is unfortunate Ricky went down again."
