Patrick Sheltra Solid In Berlin Practice; Focused On Night Racing
MARNE, Michigan (August 7, 2010) - - ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards championship contender Patrick Sheltra reeled in the 10th fastest practice time at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway Saturday afternoon in preparation for tonight's Berlin ARCA 200, the 12th event of the 2010 season.
Sheltra and his Jon Wolfe-led team were confident following the lone hour and a half practice session under ideal racing conditions Saturday but have planned to make some minor chassis adjustments in order to strengthen their No. 60 Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant / Speed Media Dodge Charger for tonight's race.
Sheltra, the Indiantown, Florida native turned 84 laps around the .4-mile based short track located in the western roots of the lower peninsula of Michigan. From the opening of practice, Sheltra quickly marched into the top-four and maintained his position inside the top-10 for the entire session.
The Mooresville, North Carolina-based team felt like yesterday's open-test session play dividends into today's practice results.
"Our No. 60 Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant / Speed Media Dodge Charger is pretty good," said Sheltra, who sits fifth in the ARCA Racing Series point standings after 11 races. The track was extremely slick, so hopefully it will cool down before tonight's race. Our biggest fight was entry into the corner as we were a little free, but the track conditions will change dramatically between now and the race later tonight. We'll make a couple tweaks before qualifying and get after it!"
The 24-year old pilot continued, "No doubt that the test yesterday helped us. It's obvious by looking at the speed charts that tonight's race is going to be close. The team that is able to keep their nose clean the most and handle the best on older tires will be in contention to win. That scenario is exactly what we worked on. I think we'll be okay."
Saturday morning, Sheltra Motorsports drew the first position for time trials set for later today.
