BITTER SWEET DAY FOR DAMON LUSK
MOORESVILLE, NC (5/14/06) - Damon Lusk, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, finished a disappointing 17th in Saturday's rain delayed Harley- Davidson of Cincinnati 150 at Kentucky Speedway.
After starting 13th and fighting an extremely tight car, a failing alternator forced the team to change batteries, causing Lusk to fall one lap down.
"We unloaded decent," Lusk said. "But once the race started, I quickly became tight and fell back. We were able to adjust on the car to make it race-able, but soon after, lost the alternator and one lap. After a few attempts get our lap back, we just fell short. It just seemed like it was one thing after another."
Although Lusk's 17th place finish was not what this BMR team aspired for, it was however enough to move him up to third in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship point standings.
"We got lucky. This was our last mulligan, we have no more. Yes we had a good points day, but as a team, have a lot to work on. We need better cars and we need to work harder as a team. From here on out we have to compete to win. We need several solid runs to show that we have what it takes to compete for this championship."
"We have a solid, championship caliber team," Crew Chief Robby Benton said. "We just haven't had luck on our side lately. A few minor setbacks at inopportune times, has kept us from capitalizing on opportunities to make up ground in the points standings."
"If we want to be a contender for the 2006 ARCA RE/Max Series Championship, we have to work on our consistency. Top ten finishes all year is what it takes to contend for a championship and we have to get back on track to achieve that."
