Leonard Happy With Car; More Left In Qualfying...
BROOKYLN, Mi (June 15, 2006) - - Even though Johnny Leonard only turned the 32nd (41.074 seconds, 175.293 mph) fastest lap in the first and only practice for this Friday's Hantz Group 200, Leonard feels strong about his No. 13 Jack/Cole, Inc.-Dirt Mafia Chevrolet and feels he'll excel in qualifying.
"The car is really good," said the Cape Coral, Florida native. "We started off in the wrong direction, but we used the session to our advantage and picked up a lot. Mark (Gibson, crew chief) and his crew really have our car going in the right direction and I know that we were sandbagging a little in practice and we'll be competitive in qualifying, that's a fact."
Leonard will make his 41st ARCA RE/MAX Series start and fourth appearance at Michigan International Speedway Friday.
The Hantz Group 200 (200 miles/100 laps) is the eighth of 23 events on the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Pork pole qualifying is on tap Thursday afternoon (3:00pm EST) with the race set to take the green flag Friday, June 16th. The race will be televised live on SPEED, beginning at 5:00pm. In addition to SPEED, arcaracing.com will have all the latest news and results from the track.
