Marc Mitchell and the No. 93 Ergon Chevrolet team will start tomorrow's Pocono 200 from the 26th position. Their qualifying session was cut short by a blown motor, but the team rebounded well to easily make it into the ARCA RE/MAX field. Tim Andrews earned his first career pole and will lead the field to the green
Mitchell has never been to the Pocono Raceway before and he was expected to lean heavily on his Tony Clements Racing crew for the right setup to navigate the triangular-shaped track. While he did get some valuable laps, most of the practice session was spent swapping out motors. The team did a great job flipping the motors in time for Mitchell to get in his qualifying lap. The Ergon Chevrolet should be much better by the time the race starts tomorrow as the crews are able to make minor adjustments to their racecars.
"Man, that was a tough day at the track," said Mitchell. We have a pretty good car, but haven't been able to show it yet. Everybody on the Ergon Racing team and all the Tony Clements Racing guys did a great job changing motors. There is a lot that goes into changing a motor and they did a good job to get me out in time for qualifying."
The Pocono 200 can be seen Saturday at 8:00 pm EDT as it will be shown tape delayed.
