2:39 - - #43 BAROSA sets a NEW TRACK RECORD with a fast lap of 2:04.950 - 116.629 mph.

2:42 - - #66 TAGLIANI spins off course (driver’s left) into the turn one gravel pit - car suffers front wing damage - driver out and okay - brings out a RED FLAG - flat tow is dispatched to retrieve the car.

2:52 - - GREEN FLAG - 13 minutes remain in the session.

3:01 - - #43 BARBOSA sets another NEW TRACK RECORD at 2:04.336 - 117.205 mph.

#43 JOAO BARBOSA, of Valongo, Portugal, is on the PROVISIONAL POLE with a TRACK RECORD time of 2:04.322 - 117.218 mph in the RDS Motorsport-Toyota of Portugal/Sega/Caetano Buses Ralt RT-41.

#32 ALEX BARRON, of Vista, Calif., is second fastest in the Lynx Racing-Victory Circle/Red Line Oil Ralt RT-41 at 204.336 - 117.205 mph.

#19 MEMO GIDLEY, of San Rafael, Calif., is third fastest in the Lynx Racing-prepared Ralt RT-41 at 2:04.422 - 117-124 mph.

BARBOSA’S time eclipses the previous track record of 2:05.654 - 114.600 mph set last year by current CART PPG driver PATRICK CARPENTIER.

Today’s top nine provisional qualifiers all ran under the previous track record.

BARBOSA’S previous best qualifying result was fourth at Cleveland in round six.
