Alex Garcia upbeat for better results in Toronto.
Atlanta (GA), July 4th, 2002. Transnet Racing and Venezuelan driver, Alex Garcia, will arrive this week in Canada to participate in the seventh race of the Toyota Atlantic season, at the famous Toronto street circuit (1.755 miles), on Saturday July 6th.
"We should have a good car for Toronto," said Garcia. "Of course, we need to improve our qualifying position. However, we now have more practice with the new car and are reaching a point where we hopefully will begin qualifying among the faster cars."
Garcia also indicated that he is happy to be returning to Canada. "I have raced successfully at Mosport, but never in Toronto. I understand that the city is beautiful, and of course the Canadian people are wonderful. They also know and enjoy motor racing and are very supportive of the sport. All of us at Transnet Racing are looking forward to competing there."
Greg Sorrentino, Transnet Racing General Manager said: "We just tested at Putnam Park (Indiana) and that was a very good test and will help us with the set-up for the next race. The car performed well and we expect better results. The team is ready and we are eager to move ahead to Toronto."
Transnet Racing was established in 2002 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).
The race will be broadcast, live, by Speed Channel at 3:30 P.M. (EST) on Saturday July 6th, and tape delay on Monday 8th, at 9:30 P.M. (EST).
