Ricci did it again!
An outstanding Giacomo Ricci did it again in the exciting Sunday race in Imola. He started his climb from the eight position, chasing his team-mate at the Fisichella Motor Sport team, Marco Bonanomi who after the first lap was already in second position, just in the rear of Tuka Rocha. After a little contact between Bonanomi and Rocha, with the Brazilian shifted in the back row, the two great rivals of the Saturday race found themselves again on the top, with Ricci in second position but very close to Bonanomi. Ricci got the leadership during the tenth lap, when Bonanomi, due to an engine problem, decided not to risk and went for a safe second position.
Oliver Martini was third under the chequered flag, as in race 1, but his joy has been quickly disrupted by the 25 second penalisation Martini had to face because of the collision with Cressoni, who then retired. Martin felt in eight place, and the third step of the podium went to Petrov, who signed an impressive remount deserving the prize. The Russian needs to thanks the great effort of his team: Euronova's technicians worked all the night long to repair his brutally damaged car after the Saturday crash. Good fourth place for Fausto Ipppoliti, from Avelon. Starting from the fifth row he finished very close to the bests, followed by Roldan Rodriguez (Scuderia Minardi) and the unlucky Nocera, who was forced to start from the pits due to a technical failure, and by Caceres. Glauco Solieri (Team Famà) ended his race one lap from the winner but got the first position in the special Light category after Tuka Rocha stopped at lap 13, same as Cressoni. Also Stefano Gattuso (Auto Sport) and Marcello Puglisi (Euronova), didn't complete the race.
