Marko Asmer took pole position for round two of British Formula 3 International Series at Donington Park. The Estonian driver, of Hitech racing, guaranteed a front-row start for both races after qualifying second for round one earlier in the day. The session was red-flagged midway after Cheong Lou Meng left the track.
Dirani set his fastest time of 1m 03.212s after twenty minutes and Asmer responded immediately with a 1m 03.196s. Both drivers stayed on track until the end but, as Dirani?s times gradually fell away, Asmer remained competitive and improved to a 1m 03.094s on his final lap to confirm the pole position.
Mike Conway qualified in third position after a strong performance towards the end of the session. The British driver spent most of the session just outside the top ten before finding his form over the first part of the lap and improving by a second. Daniel Clarke qualified fourth after a very consistent session where he set six lap times that were all ultimately fast enough for fourth place.
Barton Mawer headed the National Class after pulling out a blistering lap late in the session. He had been matching the times of Salvardor Duran, as the pair were consistantly lapping in the low 1m 04s, but managed to find a 1m 03.841 in his final few laps to head the class.
