Hitech and Grubmueller happy with Snetterton test
Hitech Racing and F3 rookie Walter Grubmuller declared themselves happy with the young Austrian's first ever outing on the fast Snetterton circuit, the 18 year-old improving throughout the two-day test at the Norfolk track.
Tuesday was an acclimatisation day with Walter learning the circuit and getting to grips with the new team / circuit.
For Grubmuller, Wednesday proved much better with Walter only 0.4 seconds from the fastest morning time, however the Buckingham-based teenager suffered a spin in his Dallara F307 Mercedes HWA on the stroke of lunchtime fracturing an oil line which lost him three hours in the afternoon.
Thereafter the Silverstone-based team began the process of setting up the car ready for today's Zolder test, in preparation for the one-off BP Ultimate Masters in September, and completed the last few laps of the session before the team headed out to Belgium.
For David Hayle's team, the outing proved positive, Hayle delighted with the improvement his young charge has shown which sets the team up well for what looks like being a successful season in the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series.
David Hayle: "Walter is on a steep learning curve as we know and without Marko there to help him this test was never going to be easy, however Walter worked hard throughout the two days and his second day times were the result of his perseverance, to be 0.4 off in 1 and a half days was extremely good.
Grubmuller's team-mate Estonian Marko Asmer was absent from the test due to clashing testing commitments in Japan.
