Kenny ready for the big one
19 year old rallying sensation Nick Kenny is looking forward to this weekends Pirelli International Rally, the opening round of the 2007 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship, when he begins his second full season in the top flight of British rallying.
Nick experienced a baptism of fire during his 2006 campaign, proving quick but erratic early on. However, since coming under the guidance of experienced rally driver Geoff Jones, the Telford based fabricator has reined in his exuberance and as such is one to watch in 2007.
I am really looking forward to the 2007 season. I recently upgraded to a newer spec Subaru and along with my new co-driver George Gwynn we won our first rally together in the Safe Financials supported Impreza! I find the car much easier to drive and with Geoff Jones helping me out so much I reckon I should be closer to the pace.
Nick and George recently contested the North Humberside Rally in the Telford Glass and Glazing backed Subaru but struggled with organiser's notes. This weekends rally will see the pair writing their own notes during the pre event recce meaning that Nick can attack corners and crests with more confidence.
The 2007 Pirelli International Rally begins from Carlisle on Friday 20th April 2007 before the cars tackle a series of night time stages through the infamous 'killer' Kielder Forest. After an overnight break back in Carlisle the crews once again tackle the world famous forest complex on Saturday before the ceremonial finish early in the evening after nearly 2 days of tough and treacherous rallying.
