Cookson Takes Seventh on Season Finale
Devon-based Yorkshireman Alan Cookson and co-driver Julian Wilkinson from Tunbridge Wells brought their distinctively liveried TEG Sport-prepared Subaru Impreza N15 home a personal best seventh overall on this weekend's International Rally of Yorkshire as the Scarborough-based event hosted the final round of the 2010 Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship.
After sitting out the recent International Rally of Northern Ireland after a crash on July's International Rally Isle of Man, the Robert Wiseman Dairies and Kick Energy-sponsored pair were reunited with "Moorial" for this high speed Yorkshire outing. After the opening leg, run in the dark of Friday night, the pair were twelfth overall, with Alan admitting to taking some time to adapt back to gravel as his last gravel rally had been the Pirelli International Rally, way back in April.
After making some changes to the set up of the car on Saturday the pair really picked up their pace, and despite the slippery road conditions, climbed the leader board with a string of top ten stage times and after 85 stage miles of rallying action the pair were pleased to finish seventh overall.
Alan Cookson: "After our big crash on the Isle of Man it has been quite a drama sourcing bits for the car but TEG Sport have done a great job in getting the car ready. We had no time to test and it really showed on Friday night, but once we'd played around with the set up my confidence grew. This is a great way to end the year and we have really enjoyed our first taste of the British Rally Championship."
