WPS BATHURST 12 HOUR - HOUR SIX
At the half way mark the top five outright contenders are: Damien White (#87), Paul Morris (#20), Steve Owen (#11) and Tony Quinn (#29) on the lead lap with Martin Notaras (#43) falling off the leading lap late in the hour.
Class leaders at the half way mark are:
Class A -- Damien White (#87)
Class B -- Paul Morris (#20)
Class C -- Luke Searle (#3)
Class D -- Brian Walden (#24)
Class E -- Neal Bates (#13)
Class G -- n/a
Class H -- David Filipetto (#77)
In the opening minutes of hour six Paul Morris aboard the 2007 WPS Bathurst 12 hour winning BMW 335i took the race lead from Des Wall on lap 101, who had just inherited the lead when Tony Quinn was forced to serve a drive-through penalty.
When Wall handed over the wheel for Martin Notaras to have his first stint in the car, he rejoined in fifth allowing Damien White to move up into second position. Morris and White then went on to dice for the lead, with numerous two-wide drags through The Chase playing out, with White finally taking the lead down the Main Straight half way through the fifth hour, the position he would maintain for the remainder of the sixth hour.
Further back in the field, the #24 entry of Walden Motosrport limped back to the pits after hitting the wall at Forrest Elbow, while #17 V8Race entry and driver Joel Spychala was relegated to the pits from 11th position for a number of minutes due to the brake lights on the Commodore not working. Both entries have been relegated to 14th and 26th respectively.
At the conclusion of the sixth hour the crew of the #87 entry looked to be preparing for a driver change.
