Series Silk Way Rally notes

DAKAR SERIES: RENDEZ-VOUS FOR THE SILK WAY RALLY

Following the two events organised in 2008 in Central Europe and Portugal, the Dakar Series continues this year with the creation of the Silk Way Rally that will be held from the 5th of September to the 13th in Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Initiated by Turkmenistan president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the rally had the support of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and Kazak president Nursultan Nazarbayev. The boss of the KAMAZ-master team, Semion Yakoubov then served as the go between with A.S.O. to make the project a reality. The project of this rally-raid in the Orient takes its inspiration from the ancient Silk Road. The start of the rally will take place in the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan with the finish in the capital city of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat.

For this next round of the Dakar Series, the inscription period will begin in April. The competition details of the rally (route, regulations, etc...) will be detailed in mid-April during the presentation conference.

The Silk Way Rally will be for cars and trucks only, no motorbikes.
