RAIN HALTS ELIMINATIONS ACTION, AGAIN, AT IHRA SNAP-ON TOOLS SOUTHERN NATIONALS
Finals Postponed Until Monday
DARLINGTON, S.C. - SUMMIT FastNews - For the third time this weekend, rain has again postponed the completion of the IHRA Snap-on Tools Southern Nationals. The inclement weather moved into the Darlington area at approximately 4:15pm Sunday afternoon, interrupting the Alcohol Funny Car semifinal round.
Based on the windy, rainy conditions and a look at the on-site weather radar, IHRA officials made the decision to postpone the remainder of the event until Monday.
Four competitors remain in Top Fuel - Viveca Averstedt, Paul Romine, Danny Dunn, and Tommy Johnson, Jr. Reigning IHRA champion Romine will face Dunn, while Johnson, who set low ET and top speed marks in the first round at 4.835 seconds and 303.30 miles per hour, will race Averstedt.
In the Pro Stock final round, Tim Nabors will face Daniel Seamon, while Ed Hoover will race Scotty Cannon in the Pro Modified final.
Eliminations are scheduled to resume at 9:00am Monday. Any ticket holder from any previous day of the event will be admitted free.
