Brashier, driving a 1996 dragster, had a near-perfect reaction time and covered the 1/8-mile in 5.15 seconds at 133.09 miles per hour to defeat Doug Moore of North Augusta in the final round. Moore, driving a 1973 Vega, ran 6.981, 98.41. Rob Nelson of Bristol, Tenn. claimed the Modified Bracket win in a 1972 Challenger. Yorktown, Va.'s Jennifer Sutton earned the Junior Dragster title. In the team competition, Maryland International Dragway, Budds Creek, Md., scored the overall victory, besting 16 other IHRA Eastern region teams. Carolina (S.C.) Dragway, Bristol (Tenn.) Dragway, Elk Creek (Va.) Dragway and Ware Shoals (S.C.) Dragway completed the top-five in track team standings. Brashier and Nelson will represent the IHRA Eastern Region in a special reaction time tournament at the upcoming IHRA Championship Banquet, held Jan. 17 at the Grove Park Inn, Asheville, N.C. All IHRA Bracket World Champions entered in the practice tree event will compete for a new Sea Ray Boat.
