SCOTTY CANNON SETS NEW WORLD RECORDS IN FIRST ROUND OF NORTH AMERICAN NATIONALS
EPPING, NH--- Scotty Cannon isn't keen on giving up his stronghold that he has on Pro Modified world records. So, when Shannon Jenkins ran ran 221.05 on Saturday, the Cable TV Magazine sponsored driver had to do him one better. In his first round match versus Tommy Gray at the North American Nationals, Cannon unleashed a 221.92 blast. The only problem with that for the rest of the Pro Modified contingent was that he had to couple that with a 6.362. Both of the marks reset both the elapsed time and speed records.
"I don't like anyone getting my records," explained Cannon, following the run. "That was one of those 'la la' runs in unreal conditions. I hope everybody liked that. These were better conditions than we had last night."
Cannon's win pairs him against John Bartunek in the second round of eliminations at the IHRA North American Nationals this afternoon at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.
