IHRA shootouts to be decided at Snap-on Finals
DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Season-long IHRA shootout programs will be decided during Saturday's Night of Fire program at the second annual Snap-on Finals, Sept. 25-28 at the Darlington International Dragway. Winners will be determined in the Sunoco Pro Stock Showdown, the API-Vic Richards Quick-8 Top Dragster Shootout, the FP Performance Top Dragster Shootout, the Stu Evans Lincoln-Mercury / Holbrook Enterprises Top Sportsman Shootout, Hooker Header Great Class Shootouts (Modified, Super Stock and Stock), and the Holley Performance Rod Shootouts (Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod).
Large bonus purses are up for grabs in each shootout program. The Sunoco Pro Stock Showdown winner will receive $20,000, the Stu Evans Lincoln-Mercury / Holbrook Enterprises Top Sportsman Shootout winner will earn $8,000, the Hooker Header Great Class and Holley Performance Rod Shootout winners will each receive $5,000, the FP Performance Top Dragster Shootout winner will net $3,500 and the API-Vic Richards Quick-8 Top Dragster Shootout champ will win $2,500.
Fields consisting of eight qualified drivers will compete in each shootout. Shootout positions were determined by qualifying and performance throughout the season.
The Sunoco Pro Stock field is led by Galena, Kan.'s Jerry Yeoman, while T.J. Lefter of Indianapolis heads the API-Vic Richards Quick-8 Top Dragster Shootout program. Tom Callahan of Middletown, Ohio is on top in the FP Performance Top Dragster Shoout and South Sioux City, Neb.'s Kevin O'Dell is the top qualifier for the Stu Evans Lincoln-Mercury/Holbrook Enterprises Top Sportsman Shootout. Fields will be finalized for the Hooker Header Great Class Shootouts and Holley Performance Rod Shootuts at the final Snap-on Tools World Championship Series race, held Sept. 20-21 at Hub City Dragway in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The first round for each shooutout will be held during second round qualifying for the Snap-on Finals on Friday.
