Leicester, New York - "This ten day old racecar just took me on the fastest 1/8 mile ride I have ever gone on", stated driver and team owner Carl Spiering after his final qualifying attempt at this past weekend IHRA National event.
The beautiful `57 Supercharged Chevy may not have qualified in what had to be Pro Modified's lowest bump (6.33 seconds) but the team was ecstatic about the performance of their brand new car owned by The Persico Bros. The increment numbers on the final qualifying attempt showed that the car was on a mission to qualify. The car ran an impressive 4.09seconds in the 1/8 mile when a parts failure in the motor caused the engine to shut down at 1000 feet down the racetrack.
"To still run a 6.37 seconds on 7 cylinders is evidence enough that this car has what it takes to qualify at the national event level", reported Spiering.
The team worked through the night to replaced the damaged motor while still at the racetrack in order to get ready for their next venture to take place July 21-22 at Grand Bend Motorplex in Ontario, Canada.
