Spiering qualifies ninth for Martin Michigan IHRA finals

MARTIN, MICHIGAN (August 2, 2008) -- Carl Spiering qualified ninth in the 16-car Pro Modified division for final elimination rounds Sunday at the IHRA's Torco Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.

The Jordan Station, Ontario resident powered his Eaton Cutler-Hammer 1963 Corvette-bodied Pro Modified to a 6.123-second 232.11-mph pass in qualifying at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series event.

Spiering, will face the number one qualifier, Mike Castellana's 1968 Firebird from Westbury, New York, in the first round of final eliminations.

Lisa Spiering, daughter of Carl and his wife Helena, is also competing at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series event in her Eaton Powerware-sponsored dragster to a crowd that included over 500 Eaton customers, distributors, employees and guests.

The IHRA Torco Northern Nationals finals are scheduled for Sunday in Martin, Michigan.
