Millican and Team Werner Continue Perfect Season at IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals

Grand Bend, ONT - June 13, 2004 Clay Millican of Team Werner/Lehman Racing continued his perfect season at the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals with his fourth Top Fuel win in as many races in 2004.

"I am so proud of this Werner team," said Millican. "We love coming to this race since it is the place where we got our first-ever Top Fuel win (in 2000), so it's always special to come back and win again."

[Richmond_splash_Clay.jpg] Millican, the winningest professional driver in IHRA history and three-time IHRA Top Fuel Champion, qualified in the number one position with an elapsed time of 4.658. He faced Rick Cooper in the first round of eliminations, and won with an E.T. of 4.732 at 295.56 mph to Cooper's 5.036 at 243.44 mph.

In the semi-finals, Millican met Todd Paton. Paton smoked the tires while Millican made a clean pass in 4.756 seconds at 293.44 mph. Paton finished with an E.T. of 10.452 at 81.82 mph.

[Richmond_launch_04.jpg] In the final round, Millican faced Tim Cullinan, who red-lighted to give Millican the win with an E.T. of 4.744 at 299.90 mph. Millican and Cullinan had met in one previous final round, the 2003 IHRA Northern Nationals, where Millican clinched his 26th career Top Fuel victory and surpassed "Big Daddy" Don Garlits as number one on the IHRA Top Fuel wins list.

With his 34th career Top Fuel victory, Millican extended his Top Fuel points lead over his nearest competitor, Bruce Litton. Millican and Team Werner will return to Canada on July 2-4 to compete at the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta, where they will attempt to win their fifth consecutive IHRA race this season.
