QUAIN STOTT PLANS TO MAKE A TOP END CHARGE FOR 1998 PRO MODIFIED WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
CORDOVA, ILL. — If preparation can make for a good outing, then Inman, South Carolina’s Quain Stott is destined to create headaches for the IHRA Pro Modified contingent at the upcoming Summer Nationals in Cordova, Illinois. This third stop on the nine race IHRA/Snap-On Tools Series affords him the opportunity to compensate for a slow start this season.
“I’m concerned about how we did at the first two races, but I am not worried,” explained Stott. “We got off to a slow start last season as well. Last July, things started to come around for us and I hope this year is no different. We had some tough breaks and used those as motivation to keep hammering away. We have been doing the same thing this season.”
Stott has been busy trying to right several wrongs that he made in the early part of the season and what better a venue to do that than in Quick Eight shootouts and match races. The chassis builder has left no stone unturned in his quest to rise to the top by recording several match race wins and Quick Eight runner-ups in Greer, South Carolina and Steele, Alabama. He also bettered the current IHRA eighth-mile speed world record of 172 miles per hour with a 177 mile per hour blast.
Stott along with a barrage of Pro Modified entries will be attempting to qualify for the Summer Nationals on Friday July 3 and Saturday, July 4. They will have 4 attempts to qualify as the sixteen quickest entries. Those sixteen will be a part of final eliminations on Sunday, which begin at noon.
