Stu Evans/Ford Credit Racing Team Announces Move to Single Car Team for Remainder of 1999 Season

Garden City, Mich. -- (April 5, 1999) Citing increasing demands on his time and his increased involvement in running his family's auto dealerships in Michigan, Stewart Evans has announced that he is stepping out of his driver's seat at the Stu Evans/Ford Credit Racing Team, effective immediately, essentially turning the team into a one-car team.

But Evans will not be leaving the team completely. At the same time, he becomes the sole owner of the race team, overseeing the efforts of the crew and driver Chris Holbrook as they continue their quest for the 1999 IHRA Pro Stock championship.

"This was not an easy decision to make," said Evans. "But the demands on my time and energy from the family's automotive business have taken their toll.

"This change allows the team to focus all of our resources on one car while at the same time, it allows me to become more involved in the business end of the team."

Currently there are no plans to put another driver in Stewart's car.

The new, single-car version of the Stu Evans/Ford Credit Racing Team will be competing this weekend April 9 -11, at the Holley Spring Nationals presented by Castrol GTX at Rockingham Dragway, in Rockingham, NC.
