Peter Dumbreck (OPC Team Phoenix) will start the eighth round of the DTM at the A1-Ring from eighth place on the grid. His fourth best time in the first qualifying session provided a good starting point but dirt on the track prevented him repeating the achievement in the individual timed laps.
The Scot continued his immaculate record of qualifying in every super-pole session in Austria and teammate Timo Scheider succeeded in making it two Opel drivers in the individual timings. The 24 year-old Phoenix driver starts from ninth position.
Volker Strycek (Opel motor sport director):
"Peter Dumbreck's lap in the super-pole was spoiled by Martin Tomczyk's spin. Therefore he lost time in the first and last sectors. It can happen like that in qualifying but it's unfortunate. The result does not correspond to out expectations."
Peter Dumbreck (OPC Team Phoenix) 8th, 1:27.997
"The super-pole was disappointing after qualifying. There was dirt and grass at the last corner, which I'd already picked up on my out lap and was sticking to the tyres. That can be seen from my times in sectors one and two."
Timo Scheider (OPC Team Phoenix) 9th, 1:28.091
"In qualifying I tried three approaches and the third went perfectly. In the single timed lap I was probably a bit too careful and once the tyres went into the dust."
Manuel Reuter (OPC Team Holzer) 11th, 1:27.823
"We had so much understeer, then it was oversteer after we made some changes to the set up. The handling was unrecognisable. Because of that I also had a spin."
Alain Menu(OPC Team Holzer) 12th, 1:27.831
"We wanted to improve the brake performance with a new set of discs but the front wheels locked with every hard braking."
Jeroen Bleekemolen (OPC Euroteam) 14th, 1:28.079
"The car was great -- thanks to the Euroteam. With my first set of tyres I was on a very fast lap but I got held up by the car ahead in the last sector and lost some time. When the second lap was going well I made a mistake in the last corner."
Joachim Winkelhock (OPC Euroteam) 15th, 1:28.328
"I was on my way to my best time of the weekend. After the spinner and the red flag I had another lap but it was not good enough. Over all my car is good."
