Top five finish in Spa for OAK Racing's Lahaye and Ajlani
The #35 OAK Racing Pescarolo-Mazda of Matthieu Layahe and Karim Ajlani has been awarded an LMP2 podium finish in the Spa 1000kms after a number of disqualifications following post-race scrutineering.
The #29 Racing Box Lola-Judd and #32 Team Barazi Epsilon Zytek, which finished third and fourth, have both been excluded from the official results after being found to have failed to comply with the series' technical regulations. The #26 Bruichladdich Bruneau Radical SR9, which finished sixth in the original LMP2 results, has also been disqualified.
The news not only gives OAK Racing their first podium finish of the season, but also the team's first with new partners Mazda, for whom John Doonan, competitions manager for North America, was present at Spa supporting the team. It also represents a maiden Le Mans Series podium finish for Syrian driver Karim Ajlani, who joined the French team this season.
OAK Racing, Team Mazda France has now moved into fifth in the teams' standings with eight points, just three behind championship leaders Team Essex.
