Just after the half way point in the 24 Hours of Spa, the #3 Luc Alphand Aventures Corvette C6R remains firmly within the top six but has dropped down the order a little following an eventful night.
GM Corvette Racing factory drivers Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta both completed excellent double stints as nightfall hit the 7km circuit in the Ardennes, lapping consistently quickly and bringing the car closely in touch with the leaders.
Beretta was unfortunate, later in his stint, to make contact with another car which caused some bodywork damage and a subsequent puncture for which he had to make an unscheduled stop. A headlight cover was replaced and the bodywork was taped up.
Just before 0330 hrs there were reports of rain around the track and the majority of the field came into the pits to change tyres. The showers were short-lived and all had to make a further stop to take on slick tyres once more.
The #3 car also had a minor throttle linkage problem, while Vincent Vosse was behind the wheel, and further laps were lost while repairs were made.
The heavy rain predicted for the hours of darkness began to fall at daybreak so anything can now happen in the remainder of the race.
