Jean Alesi:
"The session basically went well, apart from a slight hydraulic problem
which was quickly cured at the start of this morning's session.
We were able to work a lot on set-up and I think we can set a
good time tomorrow if we continue working in this direction. Our aim is to
be in the top ten, and I think we can be there. However, I suffered a lot
from a lack of traction today, and I'm a little worried about the engine
set-up. At the moment, I'm not happy with the compromise between engine
power and driveability. So there's still a lot of work to do before
qualifying tomorrow."
Nick Heidfeld:
"First of all, I really want to thank the team for repairing my race car so
quickly between the two sessions, after I crashed on my first quick
lap this morning. There was really more damage to the car than I
thought but it was very important for me that I could do some more laps at
the end, because I don't know this circuit at all. Although I am last, I
managed to improve a lot lap by lap in the end, and finally I was not that
far from the others. It is encouraging considering we were not able to
completely check the set-up, as we were running out of time. I feel quite
confident that we can really improve tomorrow."
Alain Prost:
"In a way, today has been rather like the first day of practice in Monaco,
with Jean's car running without problems, and Nick making a mistake
on his first quick lap. It's unfortunate for Nick and the team, because
on this occasion, Nick doesn't know the Montreal circuit at
all. We had planned to test a certain number of things on his car, but
because of his accident, we tried as much as possible on Jean's car
instead, in order to gather as much information as possible. Obviously,
here at Montreal, the track changes a lot from one day to the next, and the
amount of grip develops as more and more rubber goes down. Overall, we're
happy with today and confident that we should, once again, see at least
one, hopefully two cars in the top ten on the grid for the Canadian Grand
Prix."
